Bing – Search Engine Optimisation

Over 10% of all searches being made in the UK and 35% of searches in the US are now made using Bing. Search Engine Optimisation should not stop at Google and as you can see below, with Bing being the standard on many popular devices and software, this will continue to grow.

Why Bing SEO is important:

Bing’s new design and functionality changes, as well as their increasingly attractive ad platform are all starting to make Bing more interesting and more valuable on an international scale. Bing’s updates and changes prove their commitment to improving an online user experience, and so far, they’re doing a pretty good job of it.

teclan work with our Digital Marketing customers to optimise their performance organically on Bing. We optimise the sites for Bing using Bing Webmaster Tools. This interface is incredibly helpful and comes with a set of powerful tools which help to improve the performance of a site on Bing Searches.

Some of these tools are:

– Link Explorer
Perform competitive back link analysis and find out who is linking to whom.

– Mark-up Validator
See which schema and mark-up we find on a page.

– Keyword Research Tool
See query volumes and generate keyword suggestions for your content.

– SEO Analyser
Here you can ask for analysis of an individual page to see what work would need to be done for the page to comply with SEO best practices.

When the recommendations are followed, a steady growth on Bing Organic Traffic can be seen as depicted in our case study below:

Case Study

teclan looked closely at the Bing and Yahoo organic results for four of our customers over the June 2014 – May 2015 compared to the previous year. These businesses are in extremely diverse industries, reducing the chance of seasonal or product similarities. The results indicate that all four online traders have shown a 39.60% increase on Bing and 46.68% on Yahoo.

The ‘user experience’ on Bing is also an important factor. In 2012, Bing asked the public through a marketing poll which Search Engine they believed was better when its results were presented without branding. Dubbed ‘Bing It On’ the study showed that 57% of participants preferred Bing’s results, with only 30% preferring Google.
