Inverness Digital Agencies Lead The Way In National Employee Choice Awards

Inverness marketing agency teclan Ltd has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2021 Living Wage Scotland Awards.
The company is joined by fellow Inverness digital agency Yellow Cherry and Glasgow non-profit The Wee Retreat as finalists in the Living Wage Scotland Employee Choice Award category.

The Living Wage Scotland Employee Choice Award is presented to an accredited Living Wage employer nominated by an employee who has benefited from the employer’s engagement with the scheme. The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually, based on the cost of living in the UK. In 2014, teclan became the first private business to become an accredited Living Wage Employer in Inverness. Since then, the company has evolved as a full suite marketing agency providing innovative solutions to businesses across all sectors. As a Living Wage Employer, the business has been able to employ and nurture new talent within the Highlands, ensuring their work and development is fairly rewarded.

Caitlin MacLean, who joined the team as a Trainee Web Developer earlier in the year and has now progressed to Project Manager, nominated the business for the award.

She said “It is fantastic news to hear that we are finalists for the Employee Choice Award! I am extremely grateful to teclan and the Real Living Wage for giving me this opportunity to progress in my career and also be able to save for my future at the same time. It is a joy to now be a part of such a positive work environment where your worth is recognised and rewarded.”

teclan is not the only Inverness business to be shortlisted for the award.

Fellow digital agency, Yellow Cherry, has also been recognised as a finalist. Sarah Francis, Managing Director of Yellow Cherry, said: “For two of the three companies shortlisted to be Inverness-based is a great show for the city. Most of all, I’m just so pleased for Jason & Caitlin’s experience. A key part of being able to offer consistency to clients is ensuring that agencies offer high-quality jobs that pay at least the Real Living Wage. It helps us attract, retain, and develop local creative talent and this, in turn, means our clients can have confidence in high-quality, sustainable, suppliers.

Fergus Weir, teclan’s Managing Director, said: “It makes me feel immensely proud to have teclan nominated for this award, and especially coming from one of our incredibly talented young team members. The team works very hard to create an inclusive, supportive and developing culture within teclan that really values the contribution of each person. I want to see teclan grow and provide more opportunities for young, digitally gifted and creative people from the Highlands and beyond to find rewarding employment, and the Real Living Wage forms a cornerstone of that ambition.”

This year’s award ceremony will take place virtually on November 19th during Living Wage Week.
